Creating Opportunities

Our partnerships with Families Moving Forward and Ship Community Outreach allow us to support homeless families in our community through an affirming and responsive workforce development program. The Accelerated Career Training (ACT) program helps participants

  • Explore their strengths
  • Learn about workplace communication
  • Create resumes
  • Perform mock interviews
  • Apply for jobs

Early Success Stories

Our ACT program has already celebrated some remarkable successes for members of our community’s most vulnerable populations. Those victories include

  • More than 50% of participants have earned new jobs
  • Several participants were able to use their training stipends to obtain driver’s licenses
  • Participants with disabilities were able to learn about ADA accommodations and how to advocate for reasonable accommodations
  • Program graduates have found employment with Dollar Tree, KFC, Harris Teeter, Marco’s Pizza, Carolina Care Homes, and more

Looking Forward

While the ACT program is currently limited to cohorts drawn from our existing partnerships, we are deeply excited to continue expanding our network with new organizations and developing new instructional materials to support participants.
